A3‘s tubular UF and spiral wound RO membranes are arranged in a sidestream configuration with the membrane module located in a pressurized external loop. All manufactured membrane modules and their arrangements are customized based on project requirements. We also conduct in-house pilot studies if needed.

A3’s tubular UF modules use ceramic membranes, which offer superior chemical, mechanical, and thermal stability over hollow fiber UF membranes. The membranes have a pore size of 0.01 µm and are operated at a pressure between 10 - 145 psi. The applied ultrafiltration membranes have a higher retention of macro molecules and are more suitable for certain industrial/process applications. Aqueous salts are not retained.

A3 uses spiral wound membranes for RO applications. Spiral wound membranes are the most compact and inexpensive modules today. Flat-sheet membranes are arranged in sets of two in an envelope surrounded by a flexible porous sheet. Each of the envelopes is separated through a feed spacer. The spacer ensures an open channel for the feed stream, induces turbulence, and reduces accumulation of solute molecules on the membrane surface. Reverse osmosis operate at pressures up to 1,800 psi.
